Top Ten Characters You’d Like to Check in With

1. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games trilogy
You know you want to know what happens after the end of Mockingjay.  All we get is a glimpse into Katniss and Peeta’s personal future, but what about everyone else?  Does another dictator step in and take over?  Do they form a democracy?  Is it anarchy?  So many questions!

2. Aysel and Roman from My Heart and Other Black Holes
What happens after they (spoiler alert) don’t commit suicide?

3. Alyssa from the Splintered trilogy
I just want to know what her life is like in Wonderland with Morpheus!  It does look like I’ll be getting my wish though, as a novella was announced as a follow up!

4. Laurel from Love Letters to the Dead
Laurel really went through a lot trying to find out the secret behind May’s death and I’d like to see how her therapy helps her.

5. Cadence from We Were Liars
Talk about this character going through an emotional roller coaster.  I just want to know that she is okay and coping well!

6. Remy and Dexter from This Lullaby
I want to just see them where they are now in their relationship, and hopefully they are still very happy together!

7. Sarah and Linda from Lies We Tell Ourselves
Such a tumultuous time in history for civil rights and for a bi-racial lesbian couple.  I’d love to see how their story continued.

8. Young Catherine and Hareton from Wuthering Heights
Sure, Bronte gives us the hope that the cycle is broken, but I really would like to see these characters get the happy ending that Catherine and Heathcliff never did.

9. Death from The Book Thief
I know that Liesel changed Death, so I’d just like to see if any other encounters changed or influenced Death as well.

10. Helen and Lucas from the Starcrossed Trilogy
Much like with Romy and Dexter, I just want to see their happy ever after!

Who are some characters you want to check in with?

Top Ten Books You Recently Added to your To-Be-Read List

1. The Winner’s Curse & The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
I woefully admit that I am just now adding these novels to my TBR list.  Why now? Well, to be honest I never really looked into the synopsis and now I am regretting not trying to get my hands on these books earlier!

2. The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick
I never read the first book, My Life Next Door, but I suppose I’ll add that to my TBR now too!  This is a companion novel, so I don’t think I’d necessarily have to read the first one, but after reading both of the synopses I really think I’ve been missing out.

3. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
This is an obvious add to my list because I absolutely adored Fangirl and I can’t wait to read more of the fanfiction that was interspersed throughout that novel.

4. The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
THAT COVER. I know, I totally added it originally because the cover is absolutely gorgeous but the narrative sounds pretty amazing too. This is definitely going to be one of the books I pick up first.

5. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman
New science fiction!

6. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
Super excited about this adaptation, and it has actually been on my radar for a while but for some reason I never actually put it on my TBR shelf on Goodreads!  I think this book is going to be even better because it will help with the increase in diversity among YA titles.

7. Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan
Adored Ryan’s zombie series, The Forest of Hands and Teeth, so of course I want to get my hands on this new series!

8. Blood and Salt by Kim Liggett
There is a commune/cult involved in this story. That’s all you need to know.

9. The Devil You Know by Trish Doller
Roadtrip triller? Count me in.

10. Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby
I’m definitely trying to read more Contemporary fiction, especially since there has been a big shift towards realistic fiction in the past year.  I really like the idea of this novel, it sounds a bit complex, especially with the aspect of a donor heart being involved.

What other books should I add to my TBR list?!

Top Ten Authors I’ve only read one book from but NEED to read more

1. Jennifer Echols
Such a Rush is on my favorites bookshelf and I own a few more of her books, but I always get distracted reading other books. I need to get on this!

2. Ava Dellaira
-It will be a little hard for me to read another book by Dellaira when she hasn’t published any more than Love Letters to the Dead. But believe that I will be stalking the shelves for another book by her.

3. Markus Zusak
– I think part of my reason for not reading more of Zusak’s work is due to the fact that I love The Book Thief so much, I just don’t want that reading experience and my idea of this author to be tainted if his other work doesn’t measure up.  I need to suck it up and read them anyway.

4. Laini Taylor
– Daughter of Smoke and Bone was one of my favorite books the year it came out, and I own the other two books (such is the case for a lot of authors on this list) but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet!

5. Morgan Rhodes
-Oh, Falling Kingdoms, what an excellent example of high fantasy you are in the young adult genre.  I own the second book and already have the third on pre-order. So what am I waiting on?

6. Jeffrey Eugenides
The Virgin Suicides is an amazing novel and it really was the first book I read that showcased what depression and isolation can do.  After TVS Eugenides won a Pulitzer, so I definitely need to read more of his work.

7. Lucy Christopher
Stolen was an amazing book, and Christopher hasn’t put out a whole lot of work since then, but I need to read her other novels ASAP.  I can only hope they live up to the wonderful story and writing that comprised Stolen.

8. Alexandra Bracken
– I read and enjoyed The Darkest Minds, and I’ve had an ARC of Neverfade since BEA 2013, but I still haven’t gotten around to reading it. I need to do that since the third one is coming out soon!

9. Jennifer L. Armentrout
– Armentrout is a big deal.  I mean at Book Expo America she had about 4 different signing opportunities, and they were all for different books.  Everyone and their Mom was in line to see her.  So after LOVING Don’t Look Back, I’ve taken it upon myself to purchase more of her books, and I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about.

10. Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The Naturals was by far one of my favorite books of 2013, and I already have a copy of the sequel that comes out in November.  So I will read a second book by her, which I suppose is cheating, but I NEED to read it. Loved this story.

What are some of your authors you ABSOLUTELY have to read more of?
